•- Patients with HTLV-1 infection defined as presence of HTLV-1 antibodies associated with confirmatory testing by molecular method (HTLV-1 PCR)
•-Older than 18 years.
•- Myelopathy of less than 4 years of evolution: Myelopathy associated to HTLV-1 defined as the presence of the first motor neuron associated with urinary or faecal sphincter alterations plus presence of reactive test for HTLV-1

•-Comorbidities associated with HTLV-1 including adult T-cell leukemia or thyroiditis.
•- Patients with undetermined diagnosis for HTLV-1
•- Chronic debilitating diseases:
•*Diabetes defined as fasting glucose> 126 mg / dl.
•*Chronic kidney disease defined as creatinine> 2.0 mg / dl
•*History of severe chronic lung disease requiring the use of inhalers
•*History of autoimmune disease such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis
•*Liver disease defined as TGP> 2.5 times the normal limit.
•-Concomitant infections
•*Elisa HIV reactive
•*Chronic viral hepatitis B defined as reactive surface antigen
•*Hepatitis C defined as antibody detection for hepatitis C
•*Active tuberculosis defined as a patient receiving treatment at the time of evaluation for enrollment or respiratory symptomatic patient (cough for more than 2 weeks) with abnormal chest X-ray
•*Strongyloidiosis defined as the presence of Strongiloides sp in a parasitological sample of feces.
•- Pregnancy: defined as a woman of childbearing age with reactive pregnancy test
