There were 18837 patients presenting to the ED from RACFs. 64% were female with an average age of 87 years. 92% arrived via ambulance and 45% were admitted to hospital. The incident rate ratio of RACF admissions per month was 0.79 meaning that residents were 21% less likely to be admitted to hospial. 7 day ED reporesentations dropped from 5.7% to 4.9% and 30 day readmissions was similar at 12% in the control period and 10% in the intervention period.
