Developing Visual standards for ophthalmologists based on task analysis and visual demands.

Visual task analysis is a way to establish or develop visual standards for different occupation. Ophthalmologists have very long time duty hours along with different working positions and different visual tasks & demands. Because of poor visual hygiene, different surgical procedures & different tasks may put the ophthalmologists at risk of developing chronic MSK injuries and visual disturbance. This can be avoided through a combination of optimizing operating room ergonomics and maintaining visual hygiene according to their visual demands.By using Grundy’s visual task analysis grid based on observation different tasks are identified. e.g. slit lamp evaluation. After identifying different tasks by using Grundy’s task analysis grid various information of that task are identified. Those are Occupational Information, Clinical Requirements and Environmental Information. After acquiring each data for different tasks, all the data are analysed and demands of each task is established.By identifying each task and after analyzing each data collected from various tasks, various demands of various tasks are calculated. Finally visual standards for specific task are established.
