This randomized interventional study aims to compare the effects of low-, moderate-, and high-intensity TRX suspension training on physical performance in male adolescent basketball players. Forty-two athletes aged 15 to 17 years are assigned to one of three TRX training intensity groups and complete an 8-week supervised training program in addition to their regular basketball practice. Outcomes are assessed before and after the intervention and include agility, dual-task agility, balance, upper-extremity muscular endurance, and rating of perceived exertion (RPE). The study seeks to determine whether different TRX training intensities produce distinct adaptations in these performance outcomes and to provide evidence for optimizing suspension-training prescription in youth basketball players.

Basketball performance depends on agility, balance, neuromuscular coordination, and the ability to perform motor tasks under cognitive demands. TRX suspension training has become increasingly popular in athletic conditioning because it challenges trunk stability, body control, and functional movement patterns. However, limited evidence is available regarding whether different TRX training intensities produce distinct adaptations in adolescent basketball players.

This randomized, three-arm interventional study compares the effects of low-, moderate-, and high-intensity TRX suspension training performed over an 8-week period in male adolescent basketball players. Training is conducted three times per week in addition to regular basketball practice. Internal training intensity is prescribed using heart-rate reserve (HRR) zones and monitored throughout the intervention.

The study evaluates changes in agility, dual-task agility, balance, upper-extremity muscular endurance, and perceived exertion. The primary objective is to determine whether prescribing different TRX training intensities results in different neuromuscular and performance adaptations in adolescent basketball players. The findings are expected to contribute to evidence-based recommendations for the prescription of suspension training in youth basketball conditioning programs.

入选标准

  • Male basketball players aged 15 to 17 years.
  • Active participation in organized basketball training and competition.
  • At least 6 years of regular basketball training experience.
  • Participation in basketball training at least 5 days per week.
  • Written informed consent from a parent or legal guardian and assent from the participant.

排除标准

  • Serious lower-extremity injury within the previous 6 months.
  • Diagnosed neurological or orthopedic condition limiting training or testing.
  • Failure to complete the intervention protocol.
  • Missing required pre- or post-intervention assessments.
  • Incomplete testing records.

时间窗: Baseline and immediately after the 8-week intervention

Agility performance assessed using the Illinois Agility Test. Completion time was recorded in seconds using electronic timing gates. Lower values indicate better performance.
