Our study demonstrated that people who undergo laparoscopy for gynecological problems have rates of constipation of 70%. This constipation was bothersome to the patient. We did not find any reason why some people would be higher risk of constipation than others.

- •Planned laparoscopic surgery for benign gyneacological indications
排除标准
- •Non consent
- •Non English speaking
- •Known chronic bowel conditions (such as inflammatory bowel disorders, bowel malignancy – active or previously treated, diverticular disease) with exception of IBS
- •Planned bowel shaving or bowel resection
- •Intra-operative bowel injury
- •Bowel preparation prior to surgery
- •Planned hysterectomy
- •Conversion to laparotomy
