•Women; age between 60 and 80 years; diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the knee according to the criteria of the American College of Rheumatology; osteoarthritis of the medial femorotibial knee on radiography classified as grades 2 or 3 according to the Kellgren and Lawrence criteria (1957); mean knee pain score between 4.0 and 9.0 on the Numerical Pain Scale (NRS);

•Body mass index greater than or equal to 30 kg/m2; cognitive deficits screened by the mini-mental state examination; being in current treatment with physiotherapy or doing regular physical exercise (more than twice a week) in the last 6 months; history of joint infiltration in the last 3 months or planning to receive infiltration in the next 6 months; history of knee or hip arthroplasty; history of knee surgery in the last 6 months or planning to undergo surgery in the next 6 months; presence of other illnesses that threaten safety or prevent participation in interventions or tests (symptomatic or severe coronary artery disease; dementia; use of walking aids; other types of arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis); history of knee trauma in the last 30 days; inability to perform training protocol (inability to walk short distances or need assistance from another person to complete activities of daily living);
