•Patients between 18-65 years of age.
•Patients with no systemic diseases or medical conditions.
•Teeth responding long-term to cold test (that is long-lasting, continued stimulation of the pain after the cold stimuli is removed).
•Mandibular first and/or second teeth with SIP with a radiographically normal periapical region and no percussion pain.
•Preoperative pain score ranging from moderate to severe (55â??170 mm) on the Heftâ??Parker Visual Analogue Scale (HP VAS, 0â??170 mm).1
•Ability to understand the informed consent form and pain recording scales used within the study.

•Pregnant or breastfeeding patients (pregnant or lactating women and women regularly using oral contraceptives).
•Patients with allergy to articaine, dexamethasone or tramadol.
•Allergies, sensitivity or side effects related to any opioid or nonopioid drugs including aspirin or NSAIDs.
•Periodontal disease, pulp necrosis, calcified root canals, root resorption, open apex or unrestorable teeth.
•Patients who had used analgesic or anti-inflammatory drugs within 24 hours before the treatment.
