简要总结

Declining physical activity and rising sedentary habits are major contributors to increasing NCDs. In Kerala, students and young adults face academic and work pressures that limit regular exercise, leading to reduced fitness and greater risk of chronic diseases later in life. Culturally relevant activity options are urgently needed. Kolkkali, with its rhythmic, dynamic movements, can improve endurance, strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Its group-based, enjoyable nature may also encourage better participation and long-term adherence compared to conventional exercise. However, scientific evidence on Kolkkali’s fitness benefits is limited. This study aims to evaluate the effects of a structured Kolkkali training program on physical fitness among adults in Northern Kerala and assess its feasibility as a sustainable community-based health promotion strategy.
