Abstract
The aim of this study is determining the effect of painting on anxiety of hospitalised children aged 6 to 12 years old at Tehran children’s medical center in 92-93. The research population consisted of children who admitted to some wards of the Children's Medical Canter in Tehran.
The sample size is 72 children aged 6 to 12 years old who are applying simple random sampling are divided into 2 groups (experimental group and control group) consisting of 36 persons.
The intervention was painting with free topic with use of Painting Supplies such as paper, colored pencils and crayons in different colors, each time for 15 to 20 minutes in each section at experimental group. Control group only benefit from routine medical care in Hospital. After the fifth days of intervention the Revised Children’s Manifest Anxiety scale were completed by children. To analyze the data, the covariance interpretation was given.
The results indicate that there is significant difference between controlled and experimental groups (p=0.0001).
