A Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Murivenna Taila Bandage and Paraffin Wax Application in Post-Traumatic Stiffness in Distal End Radius Fracture

Post-traumatic stiffness is a common complication following distal end radius fractures and leads to pain, restricted wrist movement, and functional impairment. Effective rehabilitation is essential to restore joint mobility and function.

In Ayurveda, management of fractures (Bhagna) includes various therapeutic measures such as bandaging and rehabilitative exercises. Murivenna Taila, an Ayurvedic formulation mentioned in the Ayurvedic Formulary of India, is traditionally used for external application in trauma-related conditions. Paraffin wax therapy, a physiotherapy modality, provides deep heat that helps reduce pain and stiffness and improves joint mobility.

This randomized controlled clinical study aims to evaluate and compare the efficacy of Murivenna Taila bandage and paraffin wax therapy in patients with post-traumatic stiffness following distal end radius fracture. A total of 30 patients will be randomly divided into two groups of 15 each. One group will receive paraffin wax therapy, while the other will receive Murivenna Taila bandage application for 15 days along with rehabilitation exercises.

The outcomes will be assessed using pain score, tenderness, and wrist range of motion measured by goniometer. The study aims to generate clinical evidence regarding the effectiveness of Murivenna Taila bandage in improving wrist mobility and reducing post-traumatic stiffness.
