- •Newly diagnosed or known hypertension (BP > 140/90 mmHg)

- •Secondary hypertension
- •Curable hypertension
- •History of previous diuretic use
- •ALT > 2X UNL
- •Cr > 1.5 mg/dl
- •SBP > 180/110 mmHg
- •Participants in other study
- •Unable to follow-up
- •History of gout or serum uric acid > 10 mg/dl
