In a cohort of 1554 individuals including 684 centenarians and semi-supercentenarians, inflammation predicted all-cause mortality in the very old and semi-supercentenarians. Inflammation predicted capability and cognition in (semi-)supercentenarians, suggesting suppression of age-related inflammatory activation is the key to healthy longevity.
