简要总结

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Singapore, and regular mammogram screening can detect breast cancer early when treatment is more effective. However, many eligible women do not attend regular mammogram screening despite national screening programs and free screening for eligible women enrolled in Healthier SG.

The IMPLEMENT Study is a community-based implementation study that will evaluate whether practical, low-cost behavioural interventions can increase mammogram screening among women who are overdue for screening or have never been screened. The interventions have previously been shown to be effective in randomized controlled trials conducted by the study team.

The study will be conducted in the Health District @ Queenstown (HD@QT). Women living in Happy Village @ Mei Ling will receive one behavioural intervention that has been shown to be effective in a previous randomized trial, while eligible women living in the remainder of HD@QT will receive usual care with no study intervention. Different implementation trials will be conducted for different screening populations, including women who have never undergone mammography, women who are overdue for repeat mammography, and women who are due for their next mammogram.

The primary objective is to determine whether implementing these evidence-based interventions in a real-world community setting increases the proportion of women completing mammography within four months. Results from this study will help determine whether these interventions can be integrated into community health programs to improve breast cancer screening participation in Singapore.

研究组 & 干预措施

Evidence-based behavioural intervention

Experimental

Eligible women residing in Happy Village @ Mei Ling will receive the evidence-based behavioural intervention specified for their screening population. The intervention will be implemented in the community to increase mammography completion within four months. In Trial A on defaulted repeats screeners the intervention will be Mailed Reminder (MR) with dedicated hotline scheduling. In Trial 2 on never-screeners the intervention will be MR with Prescheduled Appointment.

干预措施: Evidence-based behavioural intervention (Behavioral)

Comparator group

No Intervention

Eligible women residing in the remainder of HD@QT will receive usual care without the study-delivered behavioural intervention. Mammography completion will be assessed using the same outcome definition and follow-up period.

结局指标

主要结局

Proportion of eligible women who complete mammography within four months of intervention delivery.

时间窗: 4 month

This community-based implementation study will evaluate the effectiveness of evidence-based behavioural interventions to increase mammography screening in eligible women residing in the Health District @ Queenstown. Eligible women living in Happy Village @ Mei Ling will receive the intervention assigned to their screening population, while eligible women living in the remainder of the health district will receive usual care. The study will include implementation cohorts of women who have never undergone mammography, women who are overdue for repeat mammography, and women who are due for their next mammogram. The intervention will be delivered in parallel to usual care, and allocation will be non-randomized based on residential location. Mammography completion will be assessed within four months of intervention delivery.

次要结局

  • Time from mailed reminder to mammography completion(From mailer delivery through 4 months.)
  • Time to appointment booking(From mailer delivery through 4 months.)
