The study's objectives are

  1. to examine the feasibility of performing a full scale randomized controlled trial;
  2. to evaluate the effects of the combined interventions of laughter exercises and MHFA training on promoting health and wellbeing of healthcare students during and after the pandemic;
  3. to assess their self-confidence and intentions to help others after the training,
  4. to illustrate their perceptions and experiences on the laughter yoga exercises and MHFA training as health promotion interventions.

入选标准

  • The inclusion criteria are students a) with age >18 years old; b) studying healthcare-related programmes; c) who can read and understand Chinese and English; d) willing to attend the arranged activities and to complete questionnaires/interviews.

排除标准

  • The exclusion criteria are students a) with age <18 years old; b) who have taken laughter therapy or yoga-related courses, c) who have taken the MHFA or a mental health-related course; d) pre-medical conditions that are not physically or psychological fit for the course, e.g., hernia, heart disease, persistent cough with breathlessness, high blood pressure, any acute symptoms of cough, cold and fever, pregnancy, major psychiatric illness, etc.
