简要总结
The purpose of this study is to study the prevalence of anemia in patients planned for elective cancer surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital. In addition, we will audit current anemia management strategies and their impact on patient’s hemoglobin before surgery, their course in the hospital, and at discharge. Patients who visited the pre-anesthesia clinic for surgical fitness from 1st January – 31st January 2025 will be included in this study. We will be collecting the data from the electronic medical record, prescription information, investigation, and pre-anesthesia clinic records.
Since this is a retrospective study, no additional tests will be done. There will be no additional cost incurred. No reimbursement will be required/done for this study since there are no risks involved.
Results of this study will help us understand the anemia burden before surgery in our patients. It will also give us insight regarding the effectiveness of anemia management strategies before surgery. This information will help in improving the care delivered to our patients in the future. Information will be available to the investigators and the institutional ethics committee
