Background- Low energy availability means not getting enough calories from food to meet the energy needs of your body and physical activities. It can impact health and performance, especially in athletes like female elite swimmers. This study explores the relationship between low energy availability and sports performance in female elite swimmers. Investigating the impact of nutritional factors on performance, the research aims to provide valuable insights into the connection between energy intake, training outcomes, and overall athletic success in this specific population.
Methodology-
We will be correlating low energy availability and sports performance in female elite swimmers. The name, age, phone number, specialty/ event, athletic career of the swimmers are collected to identify on the basis of selection criteria. A brief introduction about the questionnaire is given to the subjects to fill the questionnaire. Athletes receive detailed instructions in a set task environment for two swimming tests (50m & 100m) in a temperature-regulated pool. Starting from a diving block or pool wall push-off, participants aim for maximum effort, using proper technique and racing strategies. Swimming degrees are accurately measured using Casio stopwatches with 0.01s precision, adhering to FINA rules by recording the middle or 2 identical degrees from 3 stopwatches. Lifeguard supervision is maintained during the tests.
