简要总结

We conducted a study to evaluate the effect of a single-session 30-minute mindful breathing in reducing fatigue among patients with hematological cancer. This is due to fatigue was the most prevalent symptom among these patients. A total of 80 patients who aged 18 years old or more with confirmed haematological cancer diagnosis and a fatigue score of 4 or more based on the fatigue subscale of Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS) were selected, subsequently allocated to either the intervention group (standard care plus a guided 30-minute mindful breathing session) or control group (standard care alone). At minute 0, both groups had similar ESAS-fatigue score and FACIT-fatigue score. At minute 30, intervention group had lower ESAS-fatigue score and FACIT-fatigue score compared to control group. The degree of score reduction in intervention group was significant. The main study limitation was that only the immediate effect of the intervention was explored.
