•1. Patients of either gender between 18 - 65 years of age will be included in this study.[4]
•2. Patients of du ‘f al-asab (neurasthenia) will be included in this study as per the ICD-10 and CCMD- III diagnostic criteria:
•ICD-10 diagnostic criteria:
•(a). Presence of either persistent and distressing complaints of increased fatigue after mental efforts, or
•Persistent and distressing complaints of bodily weakness and exhaustion after minimal efforts
•(b). At-least two of the following:
•Feeling of muscular aches and pains
•Dizziness
•Tension headache
•Disturbed sleep
•Inability to relax
•Irritability
•Dyspepsia
•CCMD- III diagnostic criteria:
•Presence of at-least three of five groups of following persistent symptoms:
•Fatigue or weakness (physical or mental)
•Irritability or worry
•Excitability
•Nervous pain
•Sleep disorder

•1. Age below 18 and above 65 yrs
•2. Patients having any primary psychiatric diseases including mood disorders, panic disorders and generalized anxiety disorders
•3. Organic concurrent conditions like brain stroke and brain injury
•4. Alcohol or drug addiction
•5. Pregnancy and lactation
•6. Agitation due to organic, toxic or iatrogenic causes
•7. Patients having any systemic disease, chronic debilitating disease, T.B., Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, etc
•8. Known case of carpal tunnel syndrome, herniated disc syndrome, peripheral nerve injury
•9. Known cases of any neuromuscular abnormalities, neuromuscular junction disorders, myasthenia gravis, muscular disorders, diabetic neuropathy and autonomic neuropathies
•10. Major medical illness under treatment
•11. Patients with diseases requiring long term treatment
•12. Use of any other alternative medication during the study period
