Norvir is a medicine used to treat adults and children aged 2 years and older with a human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. HIV-1 is a virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Norvir is used to enhance the activity of other medicines called protease inhibitors, including atazanavir, fosamprenavir, lopinavir, tipranavir and darunavir. Norvir contains the active substance ritonavir.

### Therapeutic indication Ritonavir is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1-infected patients (adults and children of two years of age and older).
