The initiative represents a major advancement in the quest to identify cognitive decline before clinical symptoms manifest.
Revolutionary Dataset for Early Detection
Launched in 2023, SpeechDx represents a first-of-its-kind initiative to build the world's largest harmonized longitudinal dataset of speech and biomarker data in Alzheimer's and pre-Alzheimer's patients. The newly released data provides researchers with a powerful foundation to develop and validate next-generation diagnostic tools that can detect subtle changes in speech patterns.

The complete dataset will include three years of speech, clinical, and biomarker data from up to 2,000 participants. This comprehensive resource addresses a critical gap in the emerging field of speech-based biomarkers, where subtle changes in speech are increasingly recognized as some of the earliest indicators of cognitive decline.
Callyope Partnership Expands AI Capabilities
Callyope (搜索), a Paris-based AI healthtech company founded in 2023, became the second partner to license the SpeechDx dataset, joining Siemens Healthineers in the growing ecosystem dedicated to advancing speech-based diagnostics. The company will leverage the data to strengthen their AI speech-foundation model, which can analyze just 30 seconds of speech to detect mood, cognitive, psychotic, and motor symptoms across mental health and neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Callyope (搜索) has already built what it claims is the world's largest neuroscience speech dataset and is currently validating its speech-based remote patient monitoring platform in 8 clinical trials involving 3,000 controls and 1,000 patients with major depression, bipolar disorders, or schizophrenia.
Accessible Screening Through Everyday Technology
The SpeechDx initiative's potential lies in its accessibility. Because speech can be captured quickly and inexpensively using microphones built into everyday devices like smartphones and computers, the platform lays the groundwork for far more accessible and scalable screening and risk prediction for Alzheimer's and related conditions.

Significant Research Investment
The Diagnostics Accelerator, created in July 2018, represents a $100 million global research initiative supported by prominent partners including ADDF Co-Founder Leonard A. Lauder, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Scott, the Dolby family, and the Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation. The program is dedicated to accelerating the development of affordable and accessible biomarkers to diagnose Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
The ADDF has previously played pivotal roles in bringing the first Alzheimer's PET scan (Amyvid®) and blood test (PrecivityAD (搜索)®) to market. Through donor support, the foundation has awarded more than $370 million to fund 765 Alzheimer's drug development, biomarker, and prevention programs across 21 countries since its founding in 1998.
