The total number of diagnosed prevalent cases of ALD across the 7MM reached 12.1 million in 2025, with alcohol-associated steatosis accounting for the majority of stage-specific diagnosed prevalent cases in the US at approximately 3.2 million, followed by alcohol-associated steatohepatitis and alcohol-associated cirrhosis.
A Field Without Disease-Modifying Therapies
Despite the considerable clinical and socioeconomic burden associated with ALD, there are currently no FDA-approved therapies that directly modify disease progression.
