Algorae Pharmaceuticals (搜索) has secured two major licensing agreements to launch seven generic medicines in Australia and New Zealand, targeting cardiovascular, metabolic, and oncology therapeutic areas.
The company partnered with Cadila Pharmaceuticals for two cardiovascular and metabolic disorder treatments, and with Sakar Healthcare (搜索) for five oncology medicines targeting a combined market valued at approximately $10 million annually.
These commercial partnerships complement Algorae's ongoing AI-driven drug discovery validation trial at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (搜索), which is evaluating 21 oncology drug targets generated by the AlgoraeOS platform.
Algorae Pharmaceuticals (搜索) (ASX:1AI) has announced two strategic partnerships that will significantly expand its commercial presence in Australia and New Zealand, marking a pivotal shift from pure AI-driven drug discovery to immediate market entry through generic medicine launches.
The Australian pharmaceutical company has secured licensing agreements with two Indian manufacturers - Cadila Pharmaceuticals and Sakar Healthcare (搜索) - to bring seven generic medicines to market across cardiovascular, metabolic, and oncology therapeutic areas.
Partnership with Cadila Pharmaceuticals
Under a binding term sheet with Cadila Pharmaceuticals, one of India's largest privately held pharmaceutical companies, Algorae will launch two generic medicines targeting cardiovascular and metabolic disorders (搜索) in Australia and New Zealand. The companies are now finalizing a definitive License and Supply Agreement to formalize the operational framework.
Cadila's extensive regulatory credentials played a key role in securing the partnership. Headquartered in Ahmedabad, the company operates manufacturing facilities accredited by major regulators including the US FDA, EU, MHRA (UK), WHO and TGA. The company distributes products in more than 100 countries and employs over 9,000 people worldwide.
"This partnership represents an important step in executing our commercial strategy and expanding our product portfolio through a world-class manufacturing partner," said Algorae Chief Commercial Officer Vishal Shah. "Our focus now is on finalising the definitive agreement and preparing for regulatory submissions."
Oncology Portfolio Expansion
Algorae has also entered an exclusive licensing agreement with Sakar Healthcare (搜索) to launch five generic oncology medicines in the Australian and New Zealand markets. The products will be marketed under the Algorae brand to serve a combined market valued at approximately $10 million per annum.
Sakar Healthcare (搜索) is a vertically-integrated pharmaceutical group specializing in active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage forms with a strong oncology focus. The company's portfolio includes sterile injectables, dry powder injectables, oral liquids, tablets and capsules, and emerging dosage forms. Sakar exports to over 60 countries including regulated markets in Europe and across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Due Diligence and Quality Assurance
Algorae representatives recently conducted a comprehensive site visit to Sakar's manufacturing facilities in Ahmedabad as part of the due diligence process. The team met with senior management, operational leaders, and technical staff to confirm production capacity, quality systems, regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment.
Algorae chair David Hainsworth described the licensing agreement as "the first step towards establishing a presence in Australia and New Zealand that would expand the company's commercial footprint and position it for long-term growth." He noted that the partnership "will enhance patient access to trusted therapies and allow us to leverage Sakar's established manufacturing capabilities in the production of high-quality oncology medicines."
AI Platform Validation Continues
These commercial partnerships complement Algorae's ongoing high-throughput validation trial at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (搜索) in Victoria. The trial is evaluating 21 oncology drug targets generated by the AlgoraeOS AI drug discovery platform across brain, pancreas, breast, and prostate cancer (搜索) cell lines.
The validation study focuses on optimization of cell growth kinetics and drug toxicity parameters, in vitro assessment of drug combination synergies, and analysis of synergies across empirically-tested drug combinations. This "lab in the loop" paradigm is designed to enhance the predictive accuracy of AlgoraeOS, with results expected before year end.
Strategic Positioning
The dual partnership strategy positions Algorae to diversify its revenue base through immediate commercial opportunities while continuing to build its longer-term AI-driven drug discovery capabilities. Both Cadila, founded in 1951, and Sakar bring established manufacturing expertise and global regulatory experience that support rapid market entry.
As regulatory processes progress with the Therapeutic Goods Administration, Algorae will update shareholders on approval timelines and expected revenue contributions. The agreements represent a shared commitment to expanding affordable access to high-quality medicines in markets where demand for cardiovascular, metabolic, and oncology therapies continues to grow.
