核心洞察
Alveus Therapeutics (搜索) secured $159.8 million in Series A funding co-led by Andera Partners (搜索), New Rhein Healthcare Investors, and Omega Funds to advance next-generation obesity and metabolic disease treatments.
The funding will support Phase 2 development of ALV-100 (搜索), a bifunctional fusion protein combining GIP receptor antagonism with GLP-1 receptor agonism designed for sustained weight loss and maintenance.
ALV-100 (搜索) aims to deliver durable efficacy with infrequent dosing and improved tolerability, addressing current therapy limitations where patients struggle to maintain long-term weight loss.
Alveus Therapeutics (搜索), a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation therapies for obesity and metabolic diseases, announced the completion of a $159.8 million Series A financing round on January 8th, 2026. The funding was co-led by Andera Partners (搜索), New Rhein Healthcare Investors, and Omega Funds, with participation from Sanofi Capital (搜索), Kurma Partners, Avego BioScience Capital, and other healthcare investors.
The proceeds will support Phase 2 clinical development of ALV-100 (搜索), the company's lead program, and Investigational New Drug (IND) filings of several early proprietary development candidates, including its highly selective Amylin peptide agonist.
Novel Mechanism Targets Weight Loss Maintenance
ALV-100 (搜索) represents a novel approach to obesity treatment as a bifunctional fusion protein combining GIP receptor antagonism with GLP-1 receptor agonism. The therapy is designed to deliver potent and sustained weight loss as well as long-term weight maintenance, addressing a critical unmet need in current obesity treatments.
"Obesity is one of the fastest-growing global healthcare challenges, and today's therapies leave patients struggling to maintain weight loss over time," said Raj Kannan, Chief Executive Officer of Alveus. "ALV-100 (搜索) and our amylin-based pipeline are being developed to deliver durable efficacy with infrequent dosing, improved tolerability, and meaningfully better body-composition outcomes."
Expanding Pipeline Beyond Lead Program
Alveus' early-stage pipeline includes ALV-200 (搜索), a highly selective amylin receptor 3 (AMYR3) peptide agonist, along with amylin-based small-molecule oral candidates and multifunctional biologic formats. The company's approach focuses on developing therapies designed for sustained efficacy, improved tolerability, and reduced treatment burden.
The company operates with a global footprint, headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, with research and development operations based in Copenhagen, Denmark. This international presence combines preclinical and clinical operations anchored in the US and Denmark.
Strategic Investment and Leadership
Jan Van den Bossche, Partner at Andera Partners (搜索), emphasized the investment's strategic importance: "This Series A financing underscores our confidence in Alveus' ability to set new standards of care in obesity and metabolic disease, which aligns with our mission to invest in innovation that makes a lasting difference in patients' lives. With preclinical and clinical operations anchored in the US and Denmark, Alveus combines global reach with executional excellence."
In conjunction with the financing, Van den Bossche has joined the Alveus Board of Directors. The company is led by an experienced management team with deep expertise in metabolic disease drug development and commercialization.
Kannan highlighted the team's track record: "With world-class investors and a team that has repeatedly brought metabolic medicines from concept to commercialization, Alveus is well positioned to lead the next wave of innovation in obesity therapeutics."
