AOP Health Presents New Clinical Data for Ropeginterferon Alfa-2b in Rare Blood Cancers at ASH 2025
核心洞察
AOP Health (搜索) presented results from two clinical studies examining ropeginterferon alfa-2b in myeloproliferative neoplasms (搜索) at the 67th ASH Annual Meeting 2025.
The ROP-ET phase III study investigated the safety and efficacy of ropeginterferon alfa-2b in essential thrombocythemia (搜索) patients unable to receive standard cytoreductive therapies.
The BESREMi-PASS study evaluated real-world clinical performance of the drug in polycythemia vera (搜索) patients in everyday practice settings.
AOP Health (搜索), a company specialized in rare diseases, presented results from two clinical investigations examining ropeginterferon alfa-2b in myeloproliferative neoplasms (搜索) at the 67th American Society of Hematology Association (搜索) (ASH) Annual Meeting 2025 held in Orlando, Florida. The studies provide new insights into treatment strategies for these rare blood cancers.
Phase III Trial in Essential Thrombocythemia
The ROP-ET study examined the use of ropeginterferon alfa-2b in patients with essential thrombocythemia (搜索) (ET), a disease characterized by excessive platelet production. This prospective, multicenter, single-arm phase III trial investigated the safety and efficacy of ropeginterferon alfa-2b specifically in ET patients who were unable to receive available cytoreductive therapies.
Essential thrombocythemia (搜索) represents a significant treatment challenge, particularly for patients who cannot tolerate standard cytoreductive approaches, highlighting the importance of alternative therapeutic options.
Real-World Evidence Study
The BESREMi-PASS study evaluated the real-world clinical performance of ropeginterferon alfa-2b in patients with polycythemia vera (搜索) (PV). Polycythemia vera is a rare cancer affecting blood-building stem cells in the bone marrow, resulting in chronic increases in red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
This investigation focused on how the medicine performs in everyday clinical practice settings, providing valuable real-world evidence to complement controlled trial data.
Addressing Unmet Medical Needs
Both studies contribute new insights into how ropeginterferon alfa-2b may benefit patients living with these chronic blood cancers. Martin Steinhart, CEO of AOP Health (搜索), emphasized the company's commitment to addressing unmet patient needs in rare indications.
"AOP Health (搜索) was founded to address unmet patient needs in rare indications. Our continued investment in research and development is a testament to that commitment, resulting in new findings that we are now proud to share with the scientific community at ASH," Steinhart stated.
Drug Profile and Administration
Ropeginterferon alfa-2b represents the first interferon approved for polycythemia vera (搜索) treatment. The drug is indicated in the European Union as monotherapy in adults for treating polycythemia vera without symptomatic enlarged spleen.
The medication is a long-acting, mono-pegylated proline interferon designed for subcutaneous self-administration using a pre-filled pen. The dosing regimen begins with administration once every two weeks initially, with the potential to extend to every four weeks after blood values stabilize.
