The funding round, led by Singular (搜索) with participation from Tim Draper's Draper Associates (搜索) and continued backing from seed investors Redalpine, Seedcamp, Wilbe and Nucleus, alongside grant funding from Innovate UK, will advance what the company calls "Liquid State Intelligence" - a new category of molecular science.
Addressing a Critical Gap in Drug Development
The pharmaceutical industry has long struggled with a fundamental limitation: while scientists can determine what a molecule is from its sequence and what it looks like from its structure, they have been unable to predict how it will actually behave under real-world conditions. Joint research with Boehringer Ingelheim, a multi-year commercial partner, has shown that Apoha (搜索) can identify high-risk antibody candidates with greater than 90% precision from as little as 8 micrograms of material. The science behind Apoha (搜索) traces back to 2008, when founder and CEO Shamit Shrivastava began researching the physics of boundaries where matter meets liquids. His work on two-dimensional solitary sound waves at lipid interfaces, published in 2014, was later named among Scientific American's discoveries that could change everything. The research has since been cited more than 1,500 times across 19 papers.

Beyond immediate commercial applications, Apoha (搜索) positions its technology as foundational infrastructure for the next generation of artificial intelligence systems that interact with the physical world. While AI models have learned to see and read, they have not yet learned to "feel" matter - to perceive how drugs respond to real-world conditions, how flavors are perceived, or how materials function under everyday stress.
"Liquid State Intelligence took 15 years of science and 5 years of company-building to bring to life," said Shamit Shrivastava. "There is no shortcut to this (搜索) data class — it cannot be scraped from the internet, synthesised, or retrofitted from existing assays. It has to be measured."
