The expansion includes construction of a new 4,500 m² three-storey R&D and laboratory hub designed to accelerate development and deliver cost-efficient high-potency manufacturing at scale.
Strategic Response to Market Demand
The investment addresses the rapidly growing demand for highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPIs), which now represent over 30% of the global drug development pipeline. With more than 1,000 highly potent small molecules currently in development, pharmaceutical companies are increasingly seeking integrated manufacturing solutions to avoid delays from fragmented supply chains.
"As pharma pipelines consist of molecules of higher potency and additional complexity, customers are looking to avoid delays through fragmented supply chains," said Martin Meeson, CEO of Axplora (搜索). Integrated Manufacturing Platform
The new facility will house state-of-the-art R&D laboratories, quality control laboratories, microbiology laboratories, and integrated support areas, all directly connected to existing manufacturing operations. This co-location strategy aims to eliminate multi-site delays, improve scale-up efficiency, and enhance overall programme economics.
Farmabios (搜索) already operates one of Europe's largest HPAPI (搜索) manufacturing facilities, built to an OEB 5 containment strategy. The site features five independent manufacturing lines and 105 m³ of installed capacity, supporting batch sizes from 0.5 to 300 kilograms. This platform is fully operational, enabling immediate execution of high-volume, high-potency programmes.
ADC Manufacturing Leadership
Axplora (搜索)'s expansion comes as the company maintains a strong position in the antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) market, currently manufacturing 6 of the 14 FDA-approved commercial ADCs. The investment builds on recent expansions across the Axplora network, including a multi-million-euro lyophilization expansion in Le Mans, France, which strengthens the group's integrated ADC manufacturing platform.

Timeline and Operational Benefits
Construction is currently underway, with completion targeted for February 2027. Once operational, the new facility will increase development and analytical throughput, reduce technology transfer complexity, and compress timelines from early development to commercial production.
