The updated timeline is based on the FDA's initial responses to the company's Mint alternate controller enabled (ACE) insulin pump 510(k) application and progress in scaling manufacturing processes.
The device, which stands for Mini Insulin Therapy, represents Beta Bionics' entry into the competitive patch pump market currently dominated by Insulet (搜索). Mint will be compatible with the company's proprietary and FDA-approved interoperable automated glycemic controller (iAGC (搜索)), described as the first and only fully adaptive insulin dosing algorithm available in the United States.
Device Specifications and Competitive Positioning
Mint is expected to match the size of the industry-leading patch pump while offering several distinctive features. The device will have a 200-unit insulin reservoir and provide three days of wear time with an additional 12-hour grace period. Unlike existing patch pumps, Mint features a two-piece reusable and disposable architecture designed to limit environmental waste.
The device will be waterproof for showering and swimming, never requires recharging, and can be controlled via iOS and Android smartphones. Notably, no phone is required during the Mint disposable patch change process. The pump will be compatible with industry-leading continuous glucose monitors including Dexcom (搜索) G7, Dexcom G7 15 Day, and Abbott (搜索)'s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus.

Market Response and Development Timeline
Beta Bionics first unveiled the Mint prototype at the American Diabetes Association's Scientific Sessions last year. Following Thursday's announcement, the company's shares increased by more than 11% to $11.82 by Friday close, reflecting investor confidence in the updated commercialization timeline.
