Beyang Therapeutics Closes Oversubscribed $30 Million Series A to Advance AI-Driven Drug Pipeline
核心洞察
Beyang Therapeutics (搜索) raised nearly $30 million in an oversubscribed Series A round co-led by Legend Capital (搜索) and Shanghai Healthcare Capital (搜索).
Proceeds will accelerate the ExCEED AI platform and advance two lead candidates: a second-generation Menin (搜索) inhibitor and a non-invasive ophthalmic therapy.
BT01001, a small-molecule eye drop for retinal diseases (搜索), completed Phase I SAD/MAD studies with safety and tolerability comparable to intravitreal Aflibercept in preclinical models.
Beyang Therapeutics (搜索) Co., Ltd., an AI-driven drug discovery company based in Chengdu, China, announced on August 12, 2026 the successful closing of an oversubscribed Series A financing round, raising nearly $30 million. The round was co-led by Legend Capital (搜索) and Shanghai Healthcare Capital (搜索), with participation from China Medical System Holdings (搜索) Limited, Fenglei Capital, Shanghai Sci-Tech Innovation Center Capital, and Harbor & Canton Capital. Existing investors Root Venture Partners and YuanBio Venture Capital also continued their support.
The proceeds will be primarily directed toward accelerating the technological iteration of Beyang's proprietary AI + Molecular Design and Optimization platform, known as ExCEED, advancing key pipeline candidates through clinical and preclinical development, and expanding the company's international R&D and business development teams.
ExCEED Platform: Validated AI-Driven Molecular Design
Founded in 2021, Beyang is led by a team with over two decades of experience spanning drug discovery and computational simulation. The ExCEED platform integrates proprietary databases with AI and computational simulation technologies across molecular design, druggability optimization, and biological evaluation. Its precision and stability were recently validated on the global stage, ranking 8th among more than 350 participants in the OpenADMET blind prediction challenge.
The platform's distinguishing capability lies in generating entirely novel molecular scaffolds rather than incremental variations on existing cores. This approach enables Beyang to break through structural homogeneity and secure meaningful differentiation in both clinical and preclinical studies.
"We observe that AI Drug Discovery (AIDD) is entering a 2.0 era characterized by vertical integration," said Fei Qi, Executive Director at Legend Capital (搜索). "Beyang's team combines deep industry experience with computational expertise, establishing a distinct moat with the ExCEED platform. The platform's ability to cover the full value chain—from de novo scaffold discovery to biological optimization—has been verified by experimental data, proving its capacity to continuously incubate high-potential candidates."
BT01001: Non-Invasive Eye Drop for Retinal Diseases (搜索)
BT01001 is a small-molecule eye drop designed to treat retinal diseases (搜索), representing a potential paradigm shift away from invasive intravitreal injections. In preclinical head-to-head studies, BT01001 demonstrated best-in-class exposure in ocular tissues, with efficacy comparable to intravitreal injections of Aflibercept, a standard-of-care anti-VEGF therapy.
The candidate has successfully completed Phase I single ascending dose (SAD) and multiple ascending dose (MAD) studies, showing excellent safety and tolerability in healthy subjects. Beyang is now advancing toward First-in-Patient trials, aiming to offer a safer, non-invasive alternative for ocular fundus diseases.
BT01002: Second-Generation Menin (搜索) Inhibitor Targeting Resistance
BT01002 is a second-generation Menin (搜索) inhibitor developed for KMT2A-rearranged (KMT2Ar) or NPM1-mutated acute leukemia (搜索). First-generation Menin inhibitors, while promising, frequently encounter acquired resistance mutations that limit their long-term efficacy. BT01002's innovative molecular design successfully overcomes all known resistance mechanisms, positioning it as a potentially first-in-class second-generation therapy in this space. The program is currently undergoing IND-enabling studies and is advancing at a globally leading pace.
Qiushan Guo, President of Shanghai Healthcare Capital (搜索), noted, "Beyang has generated highly differentiated molecules across multiple disease areas. We are particularly impressed by their next-generation Menin (搜索) inhibitor, which addresses resistance issues through novel scaffold design, and their ophthalmic delivery platform that overcomes the limitations of invasive administration."
Strategic Vision and Global Ambitions
"We are grateful for the strong recognition from our Series A investors. The oversubscribed financing validates the value of our ExCEED platform and our differentiated pipeline," said Qiyue Hu, Founder of Beyang. "As our platform continues to deliver Best-in-Class potential, we are not only accelerating our proprietary pipeline but also actively seeking external collaborations to deliver high-value innovative drugs to patients and partners worldwide."
Beyang's core team comprises experienced scientists from leading pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, Merck, and Hengrui, who have collectively participated in the R&D of three globally launched small-molecule drugs and successfully advanced over 10 projects into clinical trials. With strict target selection standards and an "AI + experience-driven" model, the company is deploying in high-potential fields to address unmet patient needs while maximizing commercial value.
