Biocon Academy Graduates 156 Students at 10th Convocation, Launches New AI and DMPK Programs

Biocon Academy (搜索), the advanced biosciences learning center and CSR initiative of Biocon Limited, celebrated the graduation of 156 students at its 10th Graduation Ceremony held at its Bengaluru campus on June 6, 2026. The milestone event underscored the Academy's growing role in building industry-ready talent for India's biotechnology and biopharmaceutical sectors, with women comprising 70% of the graduating cohort.
The graduating class encompassed seven batches across five specialized programs: the Biocon KGI Certificate Program in Biosciences, the Biocon JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (AHER) Certificate Program in Global Regulatory Affairs, the Biocon Ramaiah Certificate Program in Quality Control Analytical, the BITS Biocon Certificate Program in Applied Industrial Microbiology, and the Syngene Ramaiah Certificate Program in Sterile Manufacturing.
Ceremony Highlights and Distinguished Guests
The graduates were felicitated by Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chief Mentor of Biocon Academy (搜索) and Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited; Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy, IAS (Retd.), Chairman of the Karnataka Skill Development Authority (KSDA); and Group Captain Prasanth Nair, Astronaut (Gaganyaatri) at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Faculty members, industry experts, and mentors also attended the ceremony.
Seven top-performing students were awarded Gold Medals for Academic Excellence, recognizing their outstanding performance across the respective programs.
Bridging Academia and Industry
Since its establishment in 2013, Biocon Academy (搜索) has trained more than 1,300 students in applied biotechnology disciplines through industry-focused programs designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The Academy combines classroom learning with practical industry exposure to prepare graduates for careers across leading biotech and biopharma companies in India.

New Programs in AI and DMPK
Reflecting the evolving demands of the life sciences industry, Biocon Academy (搜索) announced the launch of new programs in Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences and Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK). These additions aim to align the curriculum with emerging industry needs and equip graduates with cutting-edge competencies.
"Our graduates are equipped not just to participate in the industry, but to shape its future through innovation and impact," Mazumdar-Shaw added.

Academic Partnerships
The graduating students represented programs conducted in collaboration with leading academic partners, including Keck Graduate Institute, BITS Pilani, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, and M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts Science and Commerce. Among the cohorts, 54 students completed the Biocon KGI Certificate Program in Biosciences, while 41 students graduated from the Syngene Ramaiah Certificate Program in Sterile Manufacturing. The remaining graduates completed programs in Global Regulatory Affairs, Quality Control Analytical, and Applied Industrial Microbiology.
