The agreement marks a crucial milestone in advancing the production and commercialisation of the HER2-positive breast cancer (搜索) therapy under Brazil's Productive Development Partnership (PDP) programme.
According to the announcement, the consortium comprising Biocon, Bahiafarma (搜索), and Bionovis (搜索) has received 100% allocation under Brazil's 10-year PDP programme for Pertuzumab. This strategic move provides the consortium with exclusive access to Brazil's public healthcare market, which constitutes approximately 70% of the country's demand for Pertuzumab. The programme supports the long-term adoption of Biocon's product within Brazil's public oncology sector.
Under the agreement, Biocon will benefit from milestone payments and a share of revenues generated from the Brazil PDP opportunity over a decade. As part of the PDP framework, Pertuzumab will undergo phased localisation in Brazil over the medium to long term.
Expanding Access to a Critical Cancer Therapy
Pertuzumab is a monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer (搜索). The drug is currently not manufactured locally in Brazil and represents a considerable expenditure for the country's Unified Health System (SUS). This contract, therefore, not only aims to improve patient outcomes but also contributes to local production capabilities and the overall healthcare ecosystem in Brazil.
