The company has secured strategic research partnerships in the US and India, along with a joint venture in China, positioning itself as a leader in developing population-specific precision medicine approaches.
Strategic Expansion Across Three Continents
The biotechnology startup uses RNA (搜索) sequencing to capture snapshots of gene activity, building AI models that guide drug development, therapy selection, and personalized health predictions. Founded in 2023 by former professors and repeat entrepreneurs David Zhang and Ashwin Gopinath, Biostate AI (搜索) has invented and patented over 12 technologies in RNA sequencing and AI, partnering with more than 100 research groups across the United States.
The company has established Bayosthiti (搜索) as its Indian subsidiary, focusing on developing precision cancer diagnostics specifically tailored to the Indian population through collaborations with hospital systems and cancer hospitals. This expansion addresses a critical gap in healthcare, as cancer remains India's fastest-growing health challenge, with over 1.4 million new cases diagnosed annually.

The Indian collaboration tackles a significant healthcare disparity: although precision medicine has transformed cancer care globally, Indian patients often lack access to diagnostics tailored to their genetic profiles, relying instead on Western data. Bayosthiti (搜索) collaborates with hospital systems and cancer hospitals, including those focused on cancer and cardiovascular disease areas.
In China, Biostate AI (搜索)'s joint venture with Kindstar Global Gene Technology (搜索) provides access to data gathered by a clinical diagnostics leader with a national clinical network of over 3,000 hospitals. The collaboration will transform Biostate AI's advanced RNA (搜索) sequencing and AI analysis platform to fit the Chinese population, optimizing it based on local disease profiles.

Advancing Melanoma Immunotherapy
In the United States, Biostate AI (搜索)'s research collaboration with Mass General Brigham (搜索) focuses on melanoma immunotherapy, specifically targeting immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) to make these therapies safer and more effective. While ICIs have transformed cancer care, they present significant challenges: they are expensive, many patients do not respond to treatment, and patients risk severe immune-related adverse events.
Current biomarkers, such as PD-L1 (搜索) expression and tumor mutational burden (TMB), often misclassify responders, leaving clinicians without reliable methods to tailor therapy. The collaboration aims to address these limitations through AI-powered analysis of extensive clinical data.
"Our group has assembled thousands of paired tumor and blood specimens linked to detailed longitudinal outcomes," said Genevieve Boland, MD, PhD, Section Head of Melanoma/Sarcoma Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. "This collaboration allows us to leverage AI in new ways to unlock that data, which can better inform patient care in the future."
Platform Scalability and Future Applications
Biostate AI (搜索) and Mass General Brigham (搜索) plan to eventually generalize a diagnostic model using Mass General Brigham's entire melanoma tumor biobank, creating an unparalleled dataset for model generalization and new biomarker discovery. While the resulting model's initial focus is melanoma, the underlying platform is tumor-agnostic, opening possibilities for similar RNA (搜索)-based AI tests in other cancers treated with checkpoint inhibitors.
The company's approach addresses both affordability and access challenges in precision medicine.
