核心洞察
Cellply (搜索), a Bologna-based deep tech startup, secured €7.15 million in funding led by ENEA Tech e Biomedical (搜索) to accelerate commercial expansion of its analytical tools for immunotherapy and cell therapy development.
The company's flagship VivaCyte (搜索) platform combines patented microfluidic technology with AI-powered automated image analysis to characterize immune cells (搜索) at unprecedented resolution and scale for advanced therapy medicinal product development.
The funding will support international expansion across key global markets and advance next-generation automated functional testing solutions for quality control in cell-based therapies.
Cellply (搜索), a Bologna-based deep tech startup developing analytical tools for cancer (搜索) immunotherapies and cell-based biotherapeutics, has secured €7.15 million in funding to accelerate the commercial expansion of its single-cell analysis platform. The investment round was led by ENEA Tech e Biomedical (搜索), with participation from existing shareholders including CDP Venture Capital (搜索) through its Fondo Rilancio.
The funding represents the largest portion of Cellply (搜索)'s latest financing round, with the company indicating that a limited final allocation remains available to selected investors. Founded in 2013 by Massimo Bocchi and Roberto Guerrieri, Cellply focuses on developing tools that enable rapid development of new immunotherapies and cell-based therapies with enhanced potency and persistence.
VivaCyte Platform Addresses Critical Industry Needs
Cellply (搜索)'s flagship product, VivaCyte (搜索), is an analytical system designed for the discovery and process development of cell therapies. The platform enables characterization of immune cells (搜索) at what the company describes as "unprecedented resolution and scale" through fully automated analysis, from sample preparation to image processing.
The VivaCyte (搜索) system combines patented microfluidic technology, AI-powered automated image analysis, and comprehensive automation with dedicated software. This integrated approach allows for robust characterization of therapeutic modalities at single-cell resolution, addressing critical unmet needs in one of the most promising areas of healthcare innovation.
"This investment provides the resources to accelerate our commercial expansion and advance innovative quality control solutions that can help unlock broader adoption of ATMPs worldwide," said Alessia Zanelli, President and CEO at Cellply (搜索).
Strategic Focus on Quality Control Solutions
The fresh capital will support two primary objectives: accelerating international expansion of the VivaCyte (搜索) platform across key global markets and advancing next-generation automated functional testing solutions for advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) quality control. The latter initiative aims to deliver greater precision in cell potency assessment while streamlining batch release processes.
According to Cellply (搜索), standardized functional assays will become fundamental to enabling scalability, sustainability, and broader patient access globally as the industry moves toward increasingly complex and personalized medicines. The company's long-term ambition is to become the global leader in analytical tools for research and quality control within the cell therapy and regenerative medicine sectors.
Industry Leadership and Board Expansion
Alongside the funding announcement, Cellply (搜索) welcomed Miro Venturi to its Board of Directors. Venturi brings decades of experience in global diagnostics, life sciences, and corporate leadership, having made significant contributions to precision medicine at scale.
"I am excited to join Cellply (搜索)'s Board at such an important stage of the company's journey," Venturi stated. "Cellply has built a highly differentiated technology platform addressing critical unmet needs in one of the most promising areas of healthcare innovation, supported by a top-notch team with strong capabilities in science and technology."
The company's future goal centers on significantly reducing the cost and complexity of batch release and potency assays in quality control for innovative cell-based therapies, addressing what industry experts consider a critical bottleneck in the broader adoption of these therapeutic modalities.
