Brandi Glanville, the 53-year-old "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum, publicly disclosed a series of complex medical diagnoses on Tuesday, September 8, as she prepares for surgery to remove a "fungal ball" from her face. In an Instagram post accompanied by a video collage of her ongoing health battle, Glanville stated, "I've been diagnosed with highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella (搜索) and Enterobacter (搜索) with biofilm, Coccidioidomycosis (搜索) (Valley Fever), Demodex dermatitis (搜索) and Mononucleosis (搜索)."
The announcement follows years of unexplained facial issues that Glanville has documented publicly since July 2023. She reported that the condition, which she has described as a facial parasite, has since extended down her right arm. "It used to only be here, but over the years that not being diagnosed properly, it has spread," she explained. "Now it goes down my right arm."
Clinical Diagnoses
The conditions Glanville disclosed span bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral etiologies. According to the National Library of Medicine, biofilm production in ESBL-producing Klebsiella and Enterobacter (搜索) can contribute to antibiotic resistance and make bacterial infections more difficult to treat. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies ESBL Klebsiella (搜索) as a type of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Coccidioidomycosis (搜索), also known as San Joaquin Valley fever, is a lung infection caused by the fungus Coccidioides found in soil around the US, per the CDC. Demodex dermatitis (搜索) is caused by a facial mite that lives in hair follicles and can cause itchy, irritated skin if the mites multiply rapidly in immunocompromised individuals, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Mononucleosis (搜索), caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), is an infectious disease spread through bodily fluids that can cause fatigue, fever, sore throat, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, per the CDC.
Treatment Plan and Costs
Glanville outlined an extensive treatment course ahead. "I also have a fungal ball in my face that needs to be removed," she wrote. "I have to get the metals from old dental work out of my mouth, my breast implants need to come out, and I'm looking at 4–6 months of daily IV treatment."
She candidly acknowledged that "the treatment has NOT been easy" and that she has seen "very little improvement" so far. The financial burden is substantial, with costs ranging between $3,300 and $6,000 per month after health insurance. "I'm not able to work right now other than my podcast and I honestly don't know how I'm going to do this mentally or financially," she said.
Glanville has been undergoing a series of IV infusions of Imipenem, a type of antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections, according to the Mayo Clinic. She previously shared that she has been subjected to daily 18-hour IV infusions that make it difficult for her to sleep, eat, and participate in daily activities.
Search for a Diagnosis
Glanville's path to diagnosis was prolonged and costly. In February 2026, she announced that her disfigurement was caused by a parasite from her "ruptured" 18-year-old silicone breast implants, which caused her lymph nodes to become "clogged." She revealed that it took 21 different doctors and $200,000 to pinpoint the root of her issues. Glanville has since had the implants removed but maintains that the facial parasite stemmed from this incident.
Earlier in her journey, she was diagnosed with stress-induced angioedema, a condition causing severe facial swelling. In December 2024, she said she had spent "over $70,000" on treatment for the condition. She later reported "painful lumps" in her jawbone area and on the side and back of her neck in a March 2025 post.
"I just want this s--t OUT of my body. I want my health back. I want my life back. I want to feel like me again," Glanville concluded, adding that she will continue sharing her treatments, surgeries, and recovery.
