The AI system, trained to analyze imaging scans for signs of fatty liver disease (搜索), reviewed electronic health records within the University of Washington Medical System and identified 834 patients with imaging evidence of the condition. Alarmingly, only 137 of these patients had received a formal diagnosis, meaning 83% of cases remained undetected despite supporting evidence already present in their medical records.

"We achieved similar results when we tested this predictive model in a separate cohort of people in China, further supporting the robustness of the model and showing it can be effective across diverse populations," Dr. Yu added.
