FDA Clears Path for First-in-Human Study
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted Britecyte (搜索)'s Investigational New Drug (IND) application, which is now in effect under IND 31174. The company will investigate BRC-OA (搜索)'s safety and efficacy in a First-in-Human Phase 1/2a clinical study specifically targeting knee osteoarthritis (搜索). The multicenter, controlled, randomized, single-blind, dose-finding study is registered under ClinicalTrials.gov ID NCT06828666.

Chronic pain resulting from cartilage damage constitutes the greatest burden driving patients to seek medical treatment. Currently, no approved disease-modifying osteoarthritis drugs exist that target the underlying pathophysiology to slow or reverse disease progression.
The high prevalence and rapid growth of osteoarthritis (搜索), combined with its significant economic and health burden and associated morbidity, creates an urgent unmet medical need for therapies that can delay, stop, or reverse disease progression. Britecyte (搜索)'s BRC-OA (搜索) treatment has demonstrated potential to reverse the course of osteoarthritis disease.
Strategic Maryland Collaboration
The three Maryland-based organizations bring complementary expertise to the clinical development program. Amarex Clinical Research (搜索) will serve as the clinical trial organization, leveraging decades of experience in advancing life-saving and life-enhancing products through clinical trials to market approval. ROSM will function as one of the clinical sites for the trial.
