Caris Life Sciences Posts Record Quarter, Targets $1 Billion Revenue on AI-Powered Multi-Cancer Early Detection
核心洞察
Caris Life Sciences reported a record second quarter with approximately 59,200 clinical cases, up more than 12% sequentially, reflecting sustained demand for its molecular profiling services.
Revenue jumped 45% year-over-year to $263.7 million, while net loss attributable to shareholders narrowed 99% to $637,000 from $517.2 million.
The company now projects full-year 2026 revenue of $1.03 billion to $1.04 billion, driven by the launch of Caris Detect (搜索), an AI-enabled multi-cancer (搜索) early detection blood test.
Caris Life Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:CAI) delivered a record second quarter, reporting approximately 59,200 clinical cases—up more than 12% sequentially—as the precision oncology and AI-enabled molecular diagnostics company sharpens its focus on a $1 billion revenue milestone driven by its multi-cancer (搜索) early detection platform.
"This was a record quarter, with approximately 59,200 clinical cases, up more than 12 percent sequentially, reflecting sustained demand and the payoff from investments in our commercial engine," said Chairman and CEO David Dean Halbert.
Financial Performance and Revenue Drivers
The company slashed its net loss attributable to shareholders by 99% to $637,000, down from $517.2 million in the same period last year. Revenues jumped 45% to $263.7 million from $181.4 million year-over-year, driven by a 55% increase in molecular profiling services revenue, which the company attributed to strong total clinic case volume and average selling price (ASP) improvements.
Research and development services, by contrast, fell 38% to $11.4 million from $18.5 million year-over-year.
Caris Detect and the Path to Early Interception
Central to the company's growth strategy is Caris Detect (搜索), a multi-cancer (搜索) early detection (MCED) blood test that analyzes the entire genome using artificial intelligence and ultra-deep sequencing to identify cancer signals at early, treatable stages.
"Our comprehensive approach gives every case real molecular depth, across more than 1.13 million patients with AI trained on it; that depth is what powers Caris Detect (搜索)," Halbert said. "And Detect doesn't stop at finding cancer (搜索) early; through what we call the Mutational Cleanse, we plan to turn an early signal into personalized immune targets, moving from early detection to early interception. It all comes back to one thing: making precision medicine a reality for every patient."
Full-Year 2026 Guidance
In line with the strong results, Caris now expects full-year 2026 revenue to reach the $1 billion mark, projecting growth in the range of 26.8% to 28%, to $1.03 billion to $1.04 billion, up from $812 million in 2025. The company also reaffirmed its clinical therapy selection volume growth guidance of approximately 25% from 2025.
Multi-Product Pipeline and Platform Expansion
Beyond core profiling, Caris is positioning itself as a high-growth, AI-enabled platform rather than a single-test diagnostics provider, leveraging whole-genome, whole-exome, whole-transcriptome, and artificial intelligence capabilities as key differentiators. The pipeline includes Caris Detect (搜索), ChromaSeq, MI Clarity, Caris Assure, and minimal residual disease testing, creating multiple future growth layers beyond core profiling.
In the first quarter of 2026, the company reported revenue rising 79% to $216.2 million, with molecular profiling revenue increasing 85% and gross margin expanding to 65% from 47%, alongside positive Adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow. Growth was driven primarily by higher average selling prices, which increased 61%, and improving case volumes despite temporary sales-force disruption in January followed by recovery in February and March.
Institutional Sentiment
Institutional sentiment for the company softened in the first quarter of the year. Data from Insider Monkey showed that 33 hedge funds held positions in the firm during the period, down from 44 in the prior quarter, with combined holdings falling 47% to $673 million from $1.266 billion quarter-on-quarter.
Looking ahead, investors are likely to watch for developments regarding the uptake of Caris Detect (搜索) and whether it holds the potential to become a blockbuster product and a key driver of sustained revenue growth.
