Celularity and MuseCell Innovations Strike New Jersey Manufacturing Deal Worth Up to $300 Million

Ltd. announced on August 27, 2026 a U.S. manufacturing collaboration for the Dezawa MuseCell (搜索)® platform, under which Celularity will manufacture Dezawa MuseCells and MuseCell-derived products at its Florham Park, New Jersey facility using technology licensed from MuseCell Innovations, a Singapore-based company that holds the intellectual property behind the platform. The collaboration could be worth more than $300 million and bring over 200 advanced-manufacturing jobs to New Jersey.

Inside the Florham Park Manufacturing Buildout
Under the collaboration, Celularity's 147,215-square-foot, purpose-built Florham Park facility, which includes a cGMP-ready manufacturing center with nine Grade C/ISO 7 and six Grade D/ISO 8 suites, will produce Dezawa MuseCells (DMCs) as well as DMC-derived Dezawa MuseExosomes (搜索) and Dezawa MuseSecretome (搜索). The platform combines qualified starting materials from perinatal, bone marrow, or adipose tissue with MCI's proprietary Dezawa Method and its specifications for identity, purity, viability, potency, traceability, and lot release.
MuseCell Innovations (搜索) CEO and President Dominik Duscher, M.D., Ph.D., said: "Celularity brings the infrastructure and technical depth required to establish U.S. manufacturing across qualified bone marrow, adipose and perinatal sources. The central scientific and quality principle is that Dezawa MuseCell (搜索) identity is defined by manufacture under the licensed Dezawa Method and conformance to MCI's product specifications—not by the anatomical source alone. That distinction allows the platform to expand without abandoning the methodology and standards that define the DMC phenomenon."
The Science Behind Dezawa MuseCells
Muse cells were discovered by Professor Mari Dezawa, who described them as a naturally occurring, stress-enduring cell population—cells that survive conditions that would kill most others, a trait that has made them a subject of more than 170 peer-reviewed papers and multiple human clinical studies over the years. The initial phase of the deal covers manufacturing DMCs from perinatal sources, along with two related products, Dezawa MuseExosomes (搜索) and Dezawa MuseSecretome (搜索), each with its own dedicated production process and quality specifications.
Under the MCI platform, a batch of cells only counts as an authenticated DMC product if it is made under the licensed Dezawa Method and meets MCI's own specifications, not simply because it came from a qualifying tissue source. Muse cells remain an investigational tool rather than an approved therapy.
Economic Impact and Scale
Based on current market conditions and MCI's own projections, the companies believe an expanded partnership covering additional products and programs could generate more than $300 million in aggregate purchases from Celularity over the next five years, and more than 200 high-tech jobs at the Florham Park site, in specialties ranging from biomanufacturing to quality control and engineering.
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill framed the deal in economic-development terms: "By bringing $300 million in business and more than 200 new jobs to New Jersey, Celularity and MuseCell Innovations (搜索) are making it clear that our state is open for business… Advanced biomanufacturing continues to grow as a strong pillar of our economy."
The Florham Park site is the same location where Celularity already manufactures cenplacel-L, its own placental-derived cell therapy, meaning the MCI collaboration is layering onto existing capacity rather than starting from scratch. Neither cenplacel-L, Celularity's lead placental-derived cell therapy program, nor any MCI product described in the release has been approved or licensed by the FDA for any indication or use.
