Chemify Secures $50 Million Series B to Accelerate AI-Driven Drug Discovery Platform
核心洞察
Chemify (搜索) raised $50 million in Series B funding led by Wing Venture Capital (搜索) and Insight Partners (搜索) to expand its AI-driven molecular design and synthesis platform globally.
The Glasgow-based company launched its first automated Chemifarm facility in June, featuring advanced robotics and the world's largest curated library of validated chemical reactions.
Chemify (搜索)'s Chemputation (搜索) platform can compress drug discovery timelines from months or years to hours, days, or weeks, with partnerships already established with 6 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies.
Glasgow-based Chemify (搜索) has secured $50 million in Series B funding to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence-driven molecular design and synthesis platform, marking a significant milestone in the digitization of chemical discovery. The oversubscribed round was co-led by Wing Venture Capital (搜索) and Insight Partners (搜索), with participation from 8VC (搜索) and existing investors including Triatomic Capital (搜索), Blueyard (搜索), Rockspring (搜索) and Eos (搜索).
The funding follows Chemify (搜索)'s June launch of its first Chemifarm, a $16 million fully automated chemistry facility in Glasgow that integrates the company's Chemputation (搜索) platform with advanced robotics and what the company claims is the world's largest curated library of validated chemical reactions.
Revolutionary Approach to Drug Discovery
Chemify (搜索)'s technology addresses a critical bottleneck in pharmaceutical development by dramatically compressing synthesis timelines. According to CEO and founder Lee Cronin, the company's approach can reduce the time required to discover a synthetic route and begin manufacturing novel drug molecules from months or years using standard technology to hours, days, or weeks.
"Chemify (搜索) aims to become the global digital backbone of chemistry, enabling fast design and discovery," Cronin stated. "Our vision is that Chemify will be able to design and make any molecule on demand for our customers across all of chemistry from drug discovery to new catalysts and electronic materials."
The company's Chemputation (搜索) system is built on a machine learning model that utilizes χDL (搜索), a programming language created by Cronin that translates molecular characteristics into executable code. This programming language enables the elimination of repetitive synthetic steps, avoids non-reproducible reactions, and performs complex reactions that would otherwise be highly labor-intensive.
Strong Industry Adoption
Chemify (搜索) has already established partnerships with six of the world's 20 largest pharmaceutical companies, demonstrating significant industry validation of its technology. The company's approach transforms chemical synthesis from what has traditionally been considered an art into a programmable science through automation and physical AI.
"Chemify (搜索)'s technology uses automation and physical AI to enable the digitisation of chemistry, transforming chemical synthesis from an art to a programmable science," commented Ansuman Satpathy, partner at Wing Venture Capital (搜索), who joined Chemify's board of directors alongside Insight Partners (搜索)' vice president Aiden Aceves.
Global Expansion Plans
The new funding will enable Chemify (搜索) to replicate its Chemifarm blueprint globally, creating a network of digital chemistry hubs. The company plans to open its first Silicon Valley facility, led by chief technical officer Mike Bell, to enhance its ability to deliver on-demand molecular design, optimization and synthesis to pharmaceutical, biotech and materials-science partners.
"Chemify (搜索)'s use of AI to ensure the make-ability of complex molecules is a paradigm shift for how medicinal chemistry is done today, and the company's vision is matched by the strong results seen across their early pharma collaborations," noted Aceves.
Technology Platform Details
The Chemifarm facility represents the most advanced laboratory for molecular design and synthesis, featuring integrated robotics and AI systems that work together to automate the entire chemical discovery process. The platform's validated reaction library provides a comprehensive foundation for molecular synthesis across diverse chemical applications.
Founded in 2022 as a spin-out from the University of Glasgow, Chemify (搜索) previously raised $43 million in Series A funding in August 2023. The company's long-term vision extends beyond pharmaceuticals to encompass catalyst development and electronic materials, positioning it to serve multiple high-value chemical markets.
The Series B funding positions Chemify (搜索) to accelerate what Cronin describes as "nothing short of a revolution in the digitisation and automation of chemical discovery and manufacturing," potentially transforming how the pharmaceutical industry approaches drug development and molecular innovation.
