The study found that tumours in patients who received the combination of ultrasound and microbubble treatment grew smaller compared to those in patients treated with standard therapy alone. The researchers noted the safety profile of the approach, describing it as a safe method for shrinking advanced tumours.
"This technology shows [promise] for enhancing localised treatment approaches in cancer patients," the authors wrote in the manuscript. The paper was published as a reviewed but unedited manuscript, provided with legal disclaimers to give early access to the findings, according to the journal.
