CivicaScript (搜索)'s transparent, nonprofit business model generated more than $16 million in savings for patients and payer members in 2025, according to the company's newly released Annual Savings Report. Since launching its first product in 2022, the Lehi, Utah-based nonprofit pharmaceutical company has now delivered nearly $44 million in cumulative savings, underscoring the impact of its collaborative approach to generic drug pricing.
The 2025 savings were driven by CivicaScript (搜索)'s flagship product, abiraterone acetate tablets USP 250 mg — now sold under the proprietary name Abirtega — along with four additional specialty generics launched during the year. The report indicates that while conversion to the newer products remains in early stages, they are already generating significant per-claim savings.
"CivicaScript (搜索) was created to bring affordability and transparency to the generic and biosimilar drug market," said CivicaScript President Brent J. Eberle. "This report demonstrates the substantial savings that can be achieved when manufacturers, payers and pharmacies work together to put patients first."

Expansion into Biosimilars
CivicaScript (搜索) continued to broaden its portfolio in 2025, expanding into the biosimilar market with the launch of a low-cost private-label insulin glargine and exclusive distribution of ustekinumab-aauz, a biosimilar to Johnson & Johnson's Stelara. The company's insulin is available nationwide, and in California it is marketed under the CalRx brand.
The organization expects savings to grow further as additional products gain adoption and new therapies enter the market.
A Transparent Business Model
Founded in 2020, CivicaScript (搜索) operates by manufacturing low-cost generic medicines and collaborating with payers, pharmacy benefit managers, and pharmacies across the country to pass cost savings directly to patients. The model emphasizes transparency throughout the entire value chain — from manufacturing through dispensing — with every stakeholder aware of the medicine's price.
Central to this approach is the company's MaxRP policy, its maximum recommended price to the consumer. Information on every CivicaScript (搜索) product package enables healthcare providers, caregivers, and patients to compare prices and confirm they are being charged no more than the MaxRP.
"At a time when too many families are facing rising prescription drug costs, our partnership with CivicaScript (搜索) is delivering on a simple, but powerful, promise to make essential generic medicines more affordable," said Sean Robbins, EVP and Chief Operating Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (搜索). "By advancing a transparent model that puts patients first, we're helping reshape the marketplace to bring more competition, lower costs and improve access for the people who need these medicines most."
The analysis examined pharmacy claims data from January 1 through December 31, 2025, from each CivicaScript (搜索) member, reflecting savings from products as of their first full quarter of availability.
