Leadership Transition Strengthens Strategic Direction
Gover brings more than 25 years of biotechnology leadership experience, most notably as the founding Chief Executive Officer of GW Pharmaceuticals plc. During his tenure spanning over two decades, he guided GW from inception through its strategic $7 billion acquisition by Jazz Pharmaceuticals in 2021, transforming it into a fully integrated global biotechnology organization.
Under Gover's leadership, GW successfully commercialized Epidiolex (cannabidiol), which received approval in both the United States and Europe for the treatment of childhood onset epilepsies (搜索). This achievement demonstrates his proven ability to translate innovative science into approved therapeutic products.
The appointment coincides with the departure of Dr. Arsani William, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Logos Capital (搜索), who stepped down from the Board effective September 9, 2025. Since joining in 2021, Dr. William provided strategic counsel instrumental to Design's progress, including guidance through the company's successful 2021 initial public offering and advancement of its clinical pipeline.
Strategic Value for GeneTAC Platform Development

Expanding Clinical Pipeline Focus
Design Therapeutics is developing a new class of therapies based on its GeneTAC gene targeted chimera small molecule platform. These molecules are designed to either increase or decrease the expression of specific disease-causing genes to address the underlying cause of disease.
The company's clinical-stage programs include DT-216P2, currently in development for patients with Friedreich ataxia (搜索), and DT-168, targeting Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (搜索). Additionally, Design is advancing programs in myotonic dystrophy type-1 (搜索) and Huntington's disease (搜索), with discovery efforts underway for multiple genomic medicines.
Industry Experience and Board Expertise
Beyond his GW Pharmaceuticals experience, Gover currently serves on the boards of Compass Pathways plc (Nasdaq: CMPS) and Xenon Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: XENE). His involvement extends to nonprofit organizations including the Rady Children's Hospital Institute for Genomic Medicine and CURE Epilepsy. From 2018 to 2021, he served on the Board of Directors of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO).
Gover holds an M.B.A. from the INSEAD business school in France and a BSc (Hons) from Bristol University, providing both scientific and business acumen to his board service.
