Dr. Fontoura's role will be pivotal in supporting STALICLA's mission to transform the treatment landscape for neurodevelopmental disorders.
Fontoura's Expertise
Dr. Fontoura brings over 16 years of experience from Roche, where he served as the Global Head of Neuroscience Clinical Development. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the launch of several medications targeting neurological conditions, including Multiple Sclerosis (搜索) (MS), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (搜索) (SMA), and Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (搜索) (NMOSD). His work also included pioneering efforts in Alzheimer's (搜索), Parkinson's (搜索), Huntington's disease (搜索), and various psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders (搜索).
Notably, Dr. Fontoura and his team spearheaded the clinical development of new therapies for Fragile X (搜索), Down's (搜索), and Angelman's syndromes (搜索), as well as the first pharmacological treatment for core symptoms of ASD, which reached Phase 3 clinical trials in both adults and children. He also co-led the Autism Innovative Medicine Studies (AIMS), including EU-AIMS and AIMS-2-TRIALS public-private partnerships.
STALICLA's Pipeline
STALICLA (搜索) is currently advancing its lead NDD asset, STP1, and a second NDD asset into Phase 2 trials, with expected readouts within 24 months. Additionally, STP7 (Mavoglurant) is being advanced for Phase 3 trials, fully funded by the US government. These trials aim to address significant unmet needs in specific subgroups of patients with neurodevelopmental disorders (搜索).
