dsm-firmenich (搜索), a Swiss company innovating in nutrition, health, and beauty, has initiated patent infringement litigation before the Xiong'An New District Court of Hebei Province, China, against multiple Chinese entities, including a sclareol (搜索) producer and a research institute. The legal petition alleges the unauthorized use of dsm-firmenich's patent for the production of sclareol, a valuable intermediate in the production of amber ingredients such as Ambrox® Super (搜索).
Sclareol (搜索) is a fragrant chemical compound found in clary sage (Salvia sclarea L.), from which it derives its name. The compound serves as a key intermediate in the production of amber ingredients. dsm-firmenich (搜索) filed a patent in 2009 for a biotechnology-based method of producing sclareol.
dsm-firmenich (搜索) requested that the Court order the defendants to cease the unauthorized use and provide compensation for the alleged infringement.
