Enliven Therapeutics announced the appointment of Rick Fair as Chief Executive Officer and Board member, effective December 11, 2025, as the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company prepares for a pivotal Phase 3 trial of its lead candidate ELVN-001 in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Co-founder Sam Kintz will transition from CEO to Head of Pipeline, focusing on the company's early-stage research programs.
The leadership change comes at a critical juncture for the Boulder, Colorado-based company, which plans to initiate a pivotal Phase 3 clinical trial of ELVN-001 in 2026. According to Richard Heyman, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board of Directors, Fair's appointment reflects the company's commitment to advancing ELVN-001 through late-stage development and commercialization.
Executive Leadership Experience
Fair brings more than 25 years of product development and commercialization experience, including 20 years with large pharmaceutical companies. He most recently served as President and CEO of Bellicum Pharmaceuticals (搜索), a clinical-stage company developing controllable cellular immunotherapies for cancer.
During his tenure at Roche/Genentech (搜索) spanning over 10 years, Fair held commercial leadership positions of increasing responsibility. In his final four years, he led the Global Product Strategy Oncology/Hematology group, overseeing the launch of five new therapies and numerous new indications across solid and hematologic tumors, managing commercialization plans for a $23 billion business.
Prior to Roche/Genentech (搜索), Fair spent nearly 10 years at Johnson & Johnson in leadership positions focused on market access and marketing. He holds a B.S. from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
ELVN-001 Development Program
ELVN-001 represents a potential best-in-class ATP-competitive inhibitor for CML treatment. According to Fair, "The data generated to date demonstrate that ELVN-001 has the potential to be the best-in-class ATP-competitive inhibitor for the treatment of CML and provide patients with CML a treatment with better efficacy, tolerability and convenience than currently approved therapies."
The upcoming Phase 3 trial marks a significant milestone for Enliven's precision oncology approach, which combines insights in clinically validated biological targets with differentiated chemistry to design potentially first-in-class or best-in-class therapies.
Strategic Pipeline Focus
Kintz's transition to Head of Pipeline enables dedicated focus on developing and advancing Enliven's existing early pipeline assets to the clinic. As a co-founder and former CEO, Kintz was instrumental in the early development of ELVN-001 and advancing the program into clinical trials.
