The grant, worth €150,000 over 18 months, is among only 182 projects selected across Europe and 18 in France, underscoring the highly competitive nature of this funding scheme.
The ERC Proof of Concept grant is reserved for researchers who have previously received an ERC Starting Grant and is designed to support the maturation and valorization of promising scientific results, facilitating their transfer into practical applications.
Overcoming Two Major Barriers in Solid Tumor Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy has profoundly transformed cancer treatment by mobilizing the immune system against tumor cells. Despite these advances, its effectiveness remains limited in many solid tumors (搜索) due to two persistent obstacles. First, attracting sufficient immune cells to the tumor site is often difficult. Second, these cells struggle to remain durably active within the particularly hostile tumor microenvironment. These limitations reduce treatment effectiveness and may necessitate repeated administrations, increasing the risk of side effects.
The Nano-BITE Approach: Precision Through Nanomedicine
The Nano-BITE project addresses these challenges by developing nanoparticles capable of acting directly within the tumor microenvironment. The objective is to promote interactions between immune cells and cancer cells while maintaining a durable antitumor response. This strategy could concentrate therapeutic activity at the tumor site while limiting effects on healthy tissues.
