Expanding Market Access Through Strategic Partnership
Pharma 1 (搜索) holds exclusive commercialization rights for both of Evofem's FDA-approved products—PHEXX (搜索) and SOLOSEC (secnidazole) 2g oral granules—across six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. The partnership includes potential expansion into 15 additional countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
"Issuance of these pricing certificates by the EDE is an important step toward expanding and diversifying Evofem's revenue stream through entry into new markets," said Saundra Pelletier, CEO of Evofem. This will pave the way for Pharma 1 (搜索) to launch and commercialize PHEXX in the UAE, giving Emirati women and their healthcare providers access to on-demand, hormone-free contraception."
Both PHEXX (搜索) and SOLOSEC were submitted to the EDE for marketing approval in 2025, with Pharma 1 (搜索) positioned to submit the products for marketing approval in other licensed countries following UAE approval. The partnership arrangement delegates all commercial functions to Pharma 1, including distribution, sales and marketing, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory maintenance across the licensed territory.

PHEXX (搜索) represents the first and only locally-acting contraceptive gel approved by the FDA. The formulation contains lactic acid, citric acid, and potassium bitartrate, working through a hormone-free mechanism that maintains the normal vaginal microbiome while creating a pH environment naturally inhospitable to sperm as well as certain viral and bacterial pathogens.
The contraceptive is applied zero-to-60 minutes before intercourse using a pre-filled applicator, offering women an on-demand contraceptive option without systemic hormonal effects.
