Evvy Raises $40M Series B to Scale AI-Driven Vaginal Microbiome Diagnostics and Enter Fertility

Evvy (搜索), the women's health company officially known as Allora Health Inc. (搜索), said Tuesday it has raised $40 million in Series B funding to scale its precision diagnostics and care platform and expand beyond vaginal health into fertility. The round was led by Catalio Capital Management (搜索), with new investors including the U.S. Fertility Innovation Fund (搜索), Rethink Impact (搜索), Muse Capital (搜索) and Alumni Ventures (搜索). Previous backers LabCorp Venture Fund (搜索), General Catalyst (搜索), Left Lane Capital (搜索) and others also participated.
A Data Gap in Precision Medicine
The company frames its work around what it describes as a fundamental flaw in precision medicine: the lack of high-quality, representative data on female bodies. Co-founder and CEO Priyanka Jain said clinical trials of new drugs generally excluded women until 1993, leaving only about 30 years of research data on female biology.
"For a long time, women were considered to be 'small men,' from a medical and research standpoint, erasing the many ways that the female body is distinct, down to the cellular level," Jain said. "That gap compounds over time: When you don't study female biology, you don't identify the biomarkers that could explain what's happening, and when you don't have those biomarkers, symptoms get labeled as 'unexplained.'"
Jain said the consequences include misdiagnosis rates higher than 50% for some conditions and a recurrence rate of more than 60% for common vaginal symptoms. "Women hear 'unexplained' constantly, whether it's unexplained infertility (搜索), unexplained recurrence, unexplained pain," she said. "It's stated like a diagnosis, when it really means medicine wasn't built to measure female biology."
At-Home Sequencing Paired With AI
Launched in 2021 by Jain, Laine Bruzek and Pita Navarro, Evvy (搜索) operates what it describes as the world's only at-home CLIA-certified and CLEP-certified metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) test to analyze vaginal microbes from a single swab. Patients mail swabs to Evvy's lab, which sequences the samples and routes results to clinicians registered on its platform for review; results are posted in the patient's online health portal.
"When a patient receives their results, they are presented alongside a diagnosis, clinical interpretation, and a clear path of next steps, including personalized prescription care when relevant," Jain said.
In May, the company launched EvvyAI (搜索), an AI assistant it bills as an advisor for vaginal health. The system translates collected microbiome data into real-time guidance for users and directs patients to clinicians for questions requiring expert input. Jain said the company has spent more than five years building what she calls the world's largest clinical-grade dataset on the vaginal microbiome and women's health outcomes, and that EvvyAI is designed to improve over time by learning from each new test.
Bacterial Vaginosis Subtypes and Clinical Outcomes
Bacterial vaginosis (搜索) (BV) serves as the company's lead example. Through microbiome analysis, Evvy (搜索) found that many BV patients who appeared similar under traditional diagnostic criteria actually had meaningfully different biomes, recurrence patterns and treatment responses. "We have identified six distinct BV subtypes and can now support far more personalized treatment pathways," Jain said.
Licensed clinicians using EvvyAI (搜索) for diagnoses report successfully diagnosing more than 90% of symptomatic patients, according to the company, leading to a 50% reduction in recurrence of conditions such as BV.
Scaling Evidence and Entering Fertility
Evvy (搜索) says it now serves more than 100,000 patients across the United States and works with 3,000 practitioners. Its dataset has been cited in peer-reviewed publications — 13 according to SiliconANGLE, and 15 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts according to Jain in comments to TechCrunch — and has helped researchers identify novel BV subtypes and hundreds of previously uncatalogued vaginal microbiome genomes.
The new funding will be used to validate a next generation of AI-enabled diagnostic and care models covering a broader range of women's health conditions, starting with fertility. Jain described fertility as an especially complex challenge in which the vaginal microbiome is only one component of a larger biological system. "It's an important and actionable biological signal, but it's not the only one," she said. "Our goal is to enable doctors to access accurate vaginal microbiome results with relevant clinical interpretations so that they can incorporate these into a fertility patient's broader care plan. We will be sharing more about our findings in this space later this year."
The company is compiling data linking vaginal microbiomes to infertility (搜索), gynecological cancer (搜索), preterm birth (搜索), IVF success rates and recurrent pregnancy loss (搜索), and last year launched a prospective study leveraging its vaginal microbiome tests in IVF clinics. Jain said the broader goal is a dataset connecting microbiome biology, symptoms, interventions and health outcomes, "creating a continuous feedback loop that unlocks improvements to care and the discovery of entirely new biomarkers."
Catalio Capital Managing Partner Jacob Vogelstein said the firm was drawn to the data and AI infrastructure Evvy (搜索) has built. "Its combination of proprietary data, clinical evidence and a growing biomarker discovery engine creates an entirely new foundation for precision women's healthcare," he said.
Competitive Landscape and Long-Term Ambitions
Other companies active in the vaginal health space include Juno Bio (搜索), Tiny Health (搜索) and Daye (搜索). Jain said she hopes Evvy (搜索)'s data collection can move the field away from unexplained diagnoses. "Women shouldn't have to accept unexplained infertility (搜索), unexplained recurrence, or unexplained symptoms as answers when what they often mean is that medicine hasn't caught up to the data yet," she said.
Longer term, Jain described an ambition to create a new-age Pap smear: "An at-home, non-invasive sample that can provide women with more regular, data-rich insights across infections, inflammation, fertility, PCOC, endometriosis (搜索), premenopause, HPV progression, and more." She added: "I don't think we can wait for traditional research methods to catch up. I believe women, as patients, can be part of pushing the industry forward."
