Rather than relying solely on symptoms and patient-reported outcomes to determine whether someone is improving, biomarkers identified in this study may provide important objective measures for monitoring and interpreting patient response in the future.

Study Design and Proteomic Analysis
The paper details results of a plasma proteomics analysis embedded within a randomized, sham-controlled study evaluating MMT in adults experiencing objective cognitive impairment associated with Long COVID (搜索). Results of both studies, conducted by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, were orally presented at ISLC by principal investigator Dr. David Putrino.
The proteomic analysis examined more than 10,500 circulating plasma proteins collected from 30 adults experiencing cognitive impairment associated with Long COVID (搜索) before and after treatment using SomaScan® high-throughput proteomics. Investigators identified selective remodeling of the plasma proteome among participants who responded to MMT, including protein signatures consistent with reduced inflammation and tissue injury, increased repair and adaptive remodeling, a distinct molecular response pattern associated with clinical improvement, and lower predicted biological age of the brain and organism using exploratory OrganAge™ modeling.
"The exciting aspect of these findings is that they move beyond showing clinical improvement to demonstrating measurable biological changes that accompany recovery," said David Putrino, Ph.D., Nash Family Director of the Cohen Center for Recovery from Complex Chronic Illness at Mount Sinai and lead investigator of the study. Measuring Predicted Brain Age
"Predicted Brain Age" was measured using OrganAge™, Vero Bioscience (搜索)'s proteomic platform for measuring biological aging across individual organs. Developed at Stanford University and published in Nature Medicine, Vero's OrganAge measures thousands of circulating proteins in blood plasma to detect organ-specific patterns of aging. In this signal study, participants receiving Fareon (搜索)'s MMT treatment showed a directional reduction in Predicted Brain Age, suggesting OrganAge may detect biological responses to effective interventions.
