AFT Pharmaceuticals (搜索) has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration to advance its injectable iron (搜索) research and development project into a global Phase 3 clinical trial, the company announced at the 2026 Bio International Convention in San Diego, California.
The FDA reviewed AFT's Investigational New Drug (IND) application and has allowed the company to proceed with a large confirmatory study. AFT, together with its development partner Hyloris Pharmaceuticals (搜索), will now undertake a global trial enrolling 1,366 patients across multiple geographies, with sites planned in New Zealand, China, India, Japan, Armenia, Europe, and the United States.
The project targets an addressable intravenous iron market estimated at US$7.41 billion, according to market data cited by the company.

Financial Performance and Growth Trajectory
The regulatory milestone coincides with AFT's financial year 2026 results, which show operating revenue of NZ$254.7 million, representing a 22% increase. Operating profit reached NZ$24.4 million. The company reported double-digit product sales growth across its territories: Australia up 19%, international sales up 66%, and Asia up 41%. The dividend per share rose to 2.5 cents, a 39% increase.
AFT highlighted a two-decade record of uninterrupted growth, with a 20-year compound annual growth rate of 17% and a stated path toward a NZ$300 million revenue target.
Global Expansion and Pipeline Development
Global expansion remains central to AFT's strategy, with agreements spanning more than 100 countries and active sales in 87 countries. New market entries during financial year 2026 included Taiwan and Egypt. Management indicated that the UK and South Africa hubs are expected to contribute to earnings in financial year 2027 as international launches scale.
The company's active pipeline includes eight patented products, the progression of more than 24 off-patent injectables, multiple Maxigesic formulations, and licensed projects such as the intravenous iron program.
Looking ahead, AFT expects financial year operating profit between NZ$28 million and NZ$32 million, with continued expansion in Australasian markets, a program of international launches, ongoing R&D, and an active licensing and out-licensing program.
