Proven Track Record in Biotech Leadership
Dr. Kakkar brings nearly 20 years of professional experience as a biotech entrepreneur and physician-scientist, with a demonstrated history of building successful biotechnology companies. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of Tome Biosciences (搜索), a genome engineering biotechnology platform company. His previous leadership roles include CEO positions at two companies that achieved billion-dollar acquisitions: Pandion Therapeutics (搜索), which was acquired by Merck (搜索) for $1.85 billion after completing an IPO, and Corvidia Therapeutics (搜索), which Novo Nordisk acquired for $2.1 billion.
Dr. Kakkar also served as Director of Emerging Innovations at AstraZeneca and continues to practice medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital while serving as a lecturer in medicine at Harvard Medical School. He holds a B.A. from Tufts University and an M.D. from the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Somatic Genomics Platform and Strategic Partnerships
Under the leadership of co-founder Jake Rubens, Ph.D., Quotient developed what the company describes as the world's first industrial platform for discovering novel, human-validated drug targets via somatic genomics.
